Feeling Like Yourself Again
Treatment ends, and the world expects you to move on. But many women find that recovery doesn't feel like a return. You may feel more tired, more cautious, less certain of what your body can handle, and quietly afraid that the woman you were before cancer is gone. She isn't. What you're experiencing is a real and well-understood part of survivorship, and there are clear, evidence-based steps that help restore your energy, your confidence, and the ordinary rhythms of a life that feels like yours. Our small-group retreats for women after cancer are designed by an oncology nurse practitioner to guide you through those steps, in restorative places, alongside women who understand, with clinical insight built into every detail.
The In-Between is a Thursday-to-Sunday long weekend for women cancer survivors — a small, private retreat built around the months between surveillance visits, when treatment has ended but the questions haven't.
Together, we'll learn how to live well in that in-between space, through the six pillars of lifestyle medicine: food, movement, sleep, stress, connection, and avoiding risky substances. A small group of women, hosted by Mila Kosmari, PhD, an oncology nurse practitioner and lifestyle coach.

Meet Mila
Oncology Nurse Practitioner · Founder, Healing Journeys Travel LLC
I've spent my career for more than 8 years caring for people with cancer, and one thing has stayed with me more than any lab result or treatment plan: how often my patients let their lives grow smaller during and after treatment. The trips they postponed, the plans they stopped making, the quiet belief that the person they used to be was out of reach.
I created Healing Journeys Travel because I know that doesn't have to be the end of the story. As an oncology nurse practitioner and clinical nursing professor, I understand what your body has been through and what it needs to recover. I've designed these retreats to give you what the clinic often can't: time to rest, a small circle of women who truly understand, and guidance you can take home and use. Every detail, from the pace of each day to the questions you might be afraid to ask, is planned with your health and comfort in mind. You're not starting over. You're coming back to yourself, and I'd be honored to help.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Women 18 years old and above who have been through cancer and want to feel more like themselves again. Most guests have completed active treatment, but some women in ongoing or maintenance therapy may be able to join with their care team's approval. If you're unsure whether the timing is right, reach out and we'll talk it through.
-
Yes. Every guest completes a health disclosure form and a physician clearance form signed by her oncologist or primary care provider. This isn't a barrier; it's how we make sure the retreat is planned safely around you.
-
Gentle by design. Activities are paced for bodies in recovery, with plenty of rest built into each day. Yoga activities will be incorporated – no prior experience required. Every activity is optional, and you're always welcome to sit one out, slow down, or simply enjoy the view.
-
In most cases, yes. These retreats are designed with treatment effects in mind. Share your needs about compression, managing cold, and air travel with your health care team and get their approval before you go.

The retreat is led by an oncology nurse practitioner who understands your needs and plans every detail with your health in mind. However, the retreat does not provide medical treatment. Local medical facilities are identified in advance, and comprehensive travel medical insurance is strongly recommended.

A nonrefundable deposit of 30% ( $1050) secures your spot, due by October 31, 2026. The remaining balance is due by December 31, 2026. With only eight places, spots are filled in the order deposits are received.

Because life after cancer can be unpredictable, we strongly recommend travel insurance that includes "cancel for any reason" coverage. The deposit (30% of the package price) is always non-refundable if you cancel, for any reason, unless the Organizer is the one canceling the Retreat, in which case it is refunded in full along with all other payments made. Refunds of amounts paid beyond the deposit are as follows:
1. 120 days or more before departure (on or before December 13, 2026): full refund of payments made beyond the deposit.
2.60–119 days before departure (December 14, 2026 – February 11, 2027): 50% refund of payments made beyond the deposit.
3.Fewer than 60 days before departure, or no-shows: no refund.
No refunds or credits are given for unused activities, meals, or nights once the Retreat has begun. This policy exists because the Organizer commits to hotel, guide, and activity providers on your behalf well in advance of the Retreat. -
No. The retreat offers education, support, and evidence-based guidance for everyday wellbeing. It's not a substitute for care from your own medical team.
